A Christmas Carol: The Musical

I have recently been cast as ‘The Ghost of Christmas Past’ in ‘A Christmas Carol: The Musical’.

I have always loved this christmas story. When I was in primary school, our christmas show was ‘A Christmas Carol’ – I played Mrs Cratchit… Oh the memories!!? However, this time I am in a musical version and its brilliant!

Rehearsals are now underway and the show will be running at The Tower Theatre in Folkestone from Saturday 30th November-Sunday 8th December!

It’s such a pretty musical! I’m so excited!! ♥

Birmingham: Take Two!!

So, our second musical-adventure to Birmingham was another successful trip! Our album is starting to take shape now and the songs are beginning to come together. It’s becoming more and more exciting every day! Working on our own material and getting stuck in to the recording process is just the best… words can’t explain it!

Here are a few pictures from the past few days… (I say ‘a few’ because if you know me well then you know I take thousands of pictures wherever I go…!!)

Above: Just before we went to the studio on Wednesday morning!

Above: Fascinated by the mirror in the lift so we decided it was necessary to pull impromptu facial expressions… easily pleased!

Above: The all important studio-snack-bag!

Above: Studio fun!!

Above: The designated tea-time-chair!

Above: Us with our musician-friends who are playing on our album, (in order from the left) Matt, Abi, Thomas, Ben and me!

I feel so incredilby lucky to have such talented siblings and a very supportive network of people around us putting so much hard work and every bit of faith they have into this album. We are so grateful for everyone’s continuous support with our music.

So, as far as album-news goes… We are heading back to Birmingham in a few weeks to continue recording!!

Taking a moment in the madness!

I am in Birmingham with the rest of the Orfila family. This is our second trip here and we are here because we are recording our album which we are so excited about it!! I thought I’d just take a moment in the madness to write a blog entry as I haven’t had a chance to do so for a while now. Been so busy and I’m loving every second of it! So, here is just a quick update of what has been happening:

We (Orfila) have been gigging, rehearsing and recording non-stop over the past few months and its been so much fun!

Here (above), we are just about to go back on stage for our second set when we played our very own gig at one of the Hythe Venetian Fete live concert evenings – thank you to everyone who came to support us!

Here we are with James Vince after we played our set at Quiet Riot 2013! Thank you to James for having us on the bill for such a good cause.

Me and Abi when we played at a fundraiser for a lovely little lady, Gracie Sims. We were very happy to have been asked to support this event.

We played at Hythe Aid, a local charity fundraiser, the first of many more to come, which we really enjoyed!

We did a ‘cover week’, where we posted a cover video on our youtube channel every day for a week – if you check out our youtube they are all uploaded on there. We are going to be doing a ‘Request Week’ soon, which we will announce on our facebook and twitter pages!

I am also really excited to have been cast as ‘The Ghost of Christmas Past’, in ‘A Christmas Carol: The Musical’. The show will be running at The Tower Theatre in Folkestone from 2nd-8th of December 2013!

All these experiences and opportunites are so incredible, I feel so so so lucky. And to be able to share them all with my beautiful, talented siblings makes it even more worthwhile. The past few weeks have consisted of many meetings and the next few months are going to involve putting our plans and ideas into practice.

I am going to try to write blog posts a lot more but as you can imagine, I have been a busy bee and haven’t had a chance!

So, for now, I am in Birmingham continuing to record with Orfila, gigging, rehearsing, back to University next week, will be in rehearsals for ‘A Christmas Carol’ and organizing some reaaaally exciting things that I can’t quite reveal just yet!!

Exciting News!

So, Orfila supported Albert Hammond back in April this year. We were so lucky and grateful to have had such a wonderful opportunity to meet such an inspiring song writer who is well within the music industry…

We are even more grateful to announce that we are going to be recording with Albert Hammond’s tour manager in Birmingham over the next few months in Highbury Studios. Acts such as Kodaline, UB40 and Duran Duran have also recorded there. We are so excited that words are not enough!

And by Albert Hammond’s manager, we do mean THIS Albert Hammond:

We will be tweeting and instagramming as much as we can to keep you up to date – SO EXCITED!

Music Monday – Hunter Hayes

Hunter Hayes is an American country music singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is signed to Atlantic Records Nashville, and released his self-titled debut album in October 2011. I have chosen to share a song that Hunter released last year. It’s absolutely beautiful. If you know me well, you know that I love country music!

I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do!

Just a little something!

Most of my days consist of script-learning, workshop planning, uni assessment-doing, gig and interview organizing, column and blog writing, entertaining little princesses and finding time to chill in between! I’ve posted a few pictures with a few words underneath, which might explain just some of things that I have been up to recently!

Learning the script and going through notes in the car for a play I’m doing called ‘Passion of Jesus’, which covers the story of Jesus around Easter. We are performing the play at Trafalgar Square on Friday 29th March and Guildford Highstreet on Saturday 30th March 2013.

Last week myself and the cast of ‘Footloose’ at Blackfish Academy had a read-through of the script. Rehearsals are now underway. Performances will be at the Round-House theatre, running from 8th-13th July 2013. I will be playing the role of ‘Urleen’ and I cannot wait!

Me (left) and my sister Abi (left) at rehearsals for ‘Passion of Jesus’ in Guildford – this is the first time we tried on our costumes!! Always a fun rehearsal!

Had an vocal assessment at university – I sang ‘Words, Words, Words’ from the musical ‘Witches of Eastwick’. This song is sung by the character ‘Suki’ – LOVED DOING THIS!

After the launch of my performing arts company, ‘Tonality Stage Academy’, I have really enjoyed delivering my own workshops and training in order to encourage young people. We are currently doing a tour of schools around East Kent and have been supported more than we could have imagined! Thank you to everyone for your support! There are many ideas in the pipeline that are all very exciting. I am so proud of all the performers who currently attend workshops/private coaching and I am also proud of our coaches for all their hard work! Keep it up lovelies!

All things creative

I have been writing a column for the Folkestone Herald/Dover Express which is printed fortnightly. I will be uploading them to my profile on ‘This is Kent’ website – take a look!

‘Orfila’ (the band I am proud to be a third of!) which is made up by Abi (my sister), Matt (my brother) and myself. Here we are at BBC Radio Kent last week for our interview on Dominic King’s Show, ‘The Kent Gig Live’.

I have attached a video with a rough recording of our interview – we perform a song ‘Draw A Line’, written by Matt Orfila, which is going on our EP and is due to be released within the next few months. The recording isn’t great – it’s just for those who missed it!

SO many more things coming up, keep an eye out for facebook and twitter where I will post regular updates:

Happy Tuesday!

Louise xx
