“If you want something, you work hard for it”…

Last weekend ORFILA were asked to play at a Christmas Concert in Folkestone for mine and Abi’s ex piano and music teacher, Mrs Thorogood. She has recently been awarded an MBE for her work in music and teaching. She has inspired us all for so many years, worked us hard and always encouraged us to pursue music as a career.

In our music lessons, I remember she would always say: “If you want something, you work hard for it… and I know you girls will…”. Sometimes you meet someone who will stay with you your whole life no matter where you go. Mrs Thorogood is definitely one of those people in my life. She is one of the most professional, kind-hearted people I have ever met. I’m sure a lot of her students, old and new, would agree that she is a fantastic teacher and we are all extremely lucky and fortunate to have been taught by such a fantastic musician and incredible teacher.

Jon Allen: Tower Theatre 2013

Our musician-friend, Jon Allen, came back to The Tower Theatre in Folkestone last night!! He performed an acoustic gig which was a mixture of songs from both his albums. Jon has been touring over the past few months and is currently recording some new material at the moment – some of which, he played for us last night. It was such a good gig. Acoustic gigs are always brilliant, there’s just something about pure, acoustic live music… I can’t explain it, but I just love it so much!

This is me and Abi with Jon after the gig:

Also, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has ‘liked’ my music page on facebook!!! It’s now reached 620…. So, THANK YOU!!!

It would also be amazing to build up the www.facebook.com/OrfilaMusic page too because… well ….. we may or may not have some exciting news coming up soon…!!?

SO, I thought I’d leave you with a link to one of Jon’s songs. I do love a lot of your songs, J-man, but I think this one has to be my favorite.

Orfilary Things!

I have always loved performing, whether it’s in a musical or at a gig. Been gigging a lot over the past few months with ‘Orfila and we are having so much fun! Literally feel so lucky to play music and write songs with my brother and sister – love them both so much!

Here’s a few pics from our gigs this weekend:

Huge thank you to everyone who came along to support us – never goes unnoticed and we really do appreciate it! Also, well done to the other acts who we shared the stage with this weekend, all brilliant performers!!

As well as gigging as much as we can, we’re off to Birmingham in a couple of weeks to carry on recording our album! Lots of things happening in preparation of this album… all very exciting!
