Jon Allen: Tower Theatre 2013

Our musician-friend, Jon Allen, came back to The Tower Theatre in Folkestone last night!! He performed an acoustic gig which was a mixture of songs from both his albums. Jon has been touring over the past few months and is currently recording some new material at the moment – some of which, he played for us last night. It was such a good gig. Acoustic gigs are always brilliant, there’s just something about pure, acoustic live music… I can’t explain it, but I just love it so much!

This is me and Abi with Jon after the gig:

Also, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has ‘liked’ my music page on facebook!!! It’s now reached 620…. So, THANK YOU!!!

It would also be amazing to build up the www.facebook.com/OrfilaMusic page too because… well ….. we may or may not have some exciting news coming up soon…!!?

SO, I thought I’d leave you with a link to one of Jon’s songs. I do love a lot of your songs, J-man, but I think this one has to be my favorite.

Orfilary Things!

I have always loved performing, whether it’s in a musical or at a gig. Been gigging a lot over the past few months with ‘Orfila and we are having so much fun! Literally feel so lucky to play music and write songs with my brother and sister – love them both so much!

Here’s a few pics from our gigs this weekend:

Slightly New Venture…

Have had a brilliant few days in London filming for new feature films ‘The Theory of Everything’ and ‘Legacy’. This is something different for me and I really enjoyed it. I thought I’d share some pics of the madness that is ‘behind the scenes’…!

image

Above: In my 70s costume with my new lil film-buddy, Oscar! (The Theory of Everything)

image

Above: The guys from costume decided I needed a lil green owl on my shoulder! Rather cute companion and was very well behaved! (The Theory of Everything)

image

Above: One of the scenes is set here, will look completely different when edited for the film as it was transformed into a 70s-street in Cambridge!

image

Above: Snazzy shots of the door signs for Legacy Movie UK… ’cause, why not!? (For those who don’t know me well, I take lots of pictures… of everything!!)

image

Above: This is a lil pic of where I had my hair and make-up done for Legacy Movie UK.

Both very different settings and experiences but both just as good! Met some brilliant actors and made some lovely friends!

Also, managed to finally go and see ‘The Book of Mormon’ and meet the cast. It’s such a fantastic show!! THE funniest musical I have ever seen!! (My own, personal opinion)

Many more exciting things are happening over the next few months, cannot wait! Feeling very lucky, blessed, focused and determined ♥

A Christmas Carol: The Musical

I have recently been cast as ‘The Ghost of Christmas Past’ in ‘A Christmas Carol: The Musical’.

I have always loved this christmas story. When I was in primary school, our christmas show was ‘A Christmas Carol’ – I played Mrs Cratchit… Oh the memories!!? However, this time I am in a musical version and its brilliant!

Rehearsals are now underway and the show will be running at The Tower Theatre in Folkestone from Saturday 30th November-Sunday 8th December!

It’s such a pretty musical! I’m so excited!! ♥

Birmingham: Take Two!!

So, our second musical-adventure to Birmingham was another successful trip! Our album is starting to take shape now and the songs are beginning to come together. It’s becoming more and more exciting every day! Working on our own material and getting stuck in to the recording process is just the best… words can’t explain it!

Here are a few pictures from the past few days… (I say ‘a few’ because if you know me well then you know I take thousands of pictures wherever I go…!!)

image

Above: Just before we went to the studio on Wednesday morning!

Above: Fascinated by the mirror in the lift so we decided it was necessary to pull impromptu facial expressions… easily pleased!

Above: Us with our musician-friends who are playing on our album, (in order from the left) Matt, Abi, Thomas, Ben and me!

I feel so incredilby lucky to have such talented siblings and a very supportive network of people around us putting so much hard work and every bit of faith they have into this album. We are so grateful for everyone’s continuous support with our music.

So, as far as album-news goes… We are heading back to Birmingham in a few weeks to continue recording!!

Taking a moment in the madness!

I am in Birmingham with the rest of the Orfila family. This is our second trip here and we are here because we are recording our album which we are so excited about it!! I thought I’d just take a moment in the madness to write a blog entry as I haven’t had a chance to do so for a while now. Been so busy and I’m loving every second of it! So, here is just a quick update of what has been happening:

We (Orfila) have been gigging, rehearsing and recording non-stop over the past few months and its been so much fun!

We played at Hythe Aid, a local charity fundraiser, the first of many more to come, which we really enjoyed!

We did a ‘cover week’, where we posted a cover video on our youtube channel every day for a week – if you check out our youtube they are all uploaded on there. We are going to be doing a ‘Request Week’ soon, which we will announce on our facebook and twitter pages!

I am also really excited to have been cast as ‘The Ghost of Christmas Past’, in ‘A Christmas Carol: The Musical’. The show will be running at The Tower Theatre in Folkestone from 2nd-8th of December 2013!

All these experiences and opportunites are so incredible, I feel so so so lucky. And to be able to share them all with my beautiful, talented siblings makes it even more worthwhile. The past few weeks have consisted of many meetings and the next few months are going to involve putting our plans and ideas into practice.

I am going to try to write blog posts a lot more but as you can imagine, I have been a busy bee and haven’t had a chance!

So, for now, I am in Birmingham continuing to record with Orfila, gigging, rehearsing, back to University next week, will be in rehearsals for ‘A Christmas Carol’ and organizing some reaaaally exciting things that I can’t quite reveal just yet!!

Exciting News!

So, Orfila supported Albert Hammond back in April this year. We were so lucky and grateful to have had such a wonderful opportunity to meet such an inspiring song writer who is well within the music industry…

We are even more grateful to announce that we are going to be recording with Albert Hammond’s tour manager in Birmingham over the next few months in Highbury Studios. Acts such as Kodaline, UB40 and Duran Duran have also recorded there. We are so excited that words are not enough! www.highburystudio.com

And by Albert Hammond’s manager, we do mean THIS Albert Hammond:

We will be tweeting and instagramming as much as we can to keep you up to date – SO EXCITED!
